Usain "lighting" Bolt in 2010 first half
Usain Bolt Opens 2010 with a 9.86 in 100m, 19.56 in 200m, 30.97 in 300m and a 45.89 in 400m.

T
he fastest man on earth starts his 100m season with a world lead of 9.86 at The Daegu Pre-Championships Meeting in Korea. The world leading time prior to this meet was Tyson Gay's 9.89 intermediate time from Manchester straight 200m race. Given that result and also Asafa Powell's super fast 9.75 windy result in Doha Diamond League meet, it's clear that others will be lowering their results in the 100m and Bolt has to be alert. 9.86 is easily Bolt's fastest time in the opening race of the season and the huge gap to others tells a clear story about how good he actually is, even after a bad start.

19.56 in 200m opener in Kingston, Bolt's run was the fourth fastest of all time, only behind his world record of 19.19, his previous record of 19.30 and Micheal Johnson's 19.32. Bolt has also 19.57. "I'm not trying to break any records this season", said Bolt, and he added that this race was just a test to see how he's training program has been progressing.

300m 30.97 at the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava - Czech Republic, it was his first competition on 300m. It was the 2nd fastest time ever and the fastest at sea level, so close to Micheal Johnson's world best with 30.85 from 2000 and it was achieved in the high altitude of Pretoria, South Africa.

With a 45.86 on 400m, Bolt set a meet record and beat his own mark set at the  same event last year of 46.35.

Unfortunately, Bolt picked up a slight Achilles tendon injury and had to miss the Samsung Diamond League meeting in New York. He received treatment from the famous Dr. Hans Mueller-Wohlfhart in Munich before coming back to Jamaica.

"I'm definitely going out to run fast, that's always my goal" said Bolt.
