2010 will go into History..Let us start by young athletes. This year, Singapore will be hosting the 1st Youth Olympic Games (YOG) from 14 to 23 August. More than 500 athletes are now selected via Area competitions or Continental Youth Championships (CYC) which have been taking place from March to May this year. Only athletes aged 16 or 17, born in 1993 or 1994, are applicable to compete at the YOG.
There are 18 events for both boys and girls and 16 athletes per each individual event. The list of disciplines is as follows: -Running: 100m, 200m, 400m, 1000m, 3000m, 2000m Steeplechase, 110m(boys)/ 100m(girls) Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 10,000m(boys)/ 5,000m(girls), Medley Relay -Jumping: High Jump, Pole Vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump -Throwing: Shot Put, Discus Throw, Hammer Throw, Javelin Throw -Walking: Race Walk Check the results of the 1st wave of athletes: My WebPage An additional 120 athletes may participate, regardless of performance, in the event of their choice, subject to certain exceptions.
