The Kenyan who was born in Kovai in 1988, and trained at the St. Francis Kimuron Secondary School in Iten, is today the new World record holder in the 800m in 1:41.01. This talented athlete was initially a 400m runner (400m PB 45.5), while his coach, Colm O'Connell, promoted him to the 800m. In 2006, he became the World Juniors Champion over that distance. His father, Daniel Rudisha, won the silver medal in 1968 at the Olympics as part of the Kenyan 4x400m Relay team.

In September 2009, Rudisha won the IAAF Grand Prix meeting in Italy setting a new African Record of 1:42.01, beating the 25 years old record of 1:42.28 set by Sammy. One year later, he competed at the Samsung Diamond League ... Read more »
