1 Silver and 2 Bronze for Lebanon at the Arab Youth Championship - Cairo 2013
The first medal for Lebanon in the Arab Youth championship was won by Patrick Hanna in High Jump. The Lebanese young man who lives and trains in Canada not only won a medal in this event but also set a new national record for his category with a 1.96m jump. The day after, he participated in the Triple Jump. A jump of 14.23m put him in second place behind Algeria! The third medal was won the last day by Alain Saad who surprised everyone winning a Bronze medal in Shot Put with a shot at 14.86 meters! We should note that all the medalist are male! We are used to see girls on the podium of these championships. Well done boys!

On the other hand, the first day, first event was the 5km race walk, where Sandy Karam took 4th place behind two girls from Tunis, one of them did the second best performance in the world, and a girl from Egypt. She set a new National record with 28:53.32! The two other girls in the Team, Joy Abousleiman and Joelle Feghali ranked 6th and 7th in the Long jump with 4.90 and 4.86 meters. Joy Also did Triple Jump and was placed 7th with a jump of 10.32 meters. Joelle r
an the 200 meters semi final in 26.94 seconds! A new personal best for Joelle who finally broke the 27 seconds barrier! She ran the final in 26.97 (wind -1.9m/s) and finished 5th.

Our two sprinter who are qualified for the World Youth championship: Anthony Mikael and Christopher Boulos. Anthony was qualified for the Worlds with his 11.13s on 100 meters set here in Lebanon. Christopher waited for this championship to do the qualification in the final of the 100 meters clocking 11.15s (wind -2.0m/s) finishing 5th. He ran the semi final in 11.20s and was second in his heat. He also ran the 200 meters but didn't qualify for the final. Anthony did 22.55 on 200 meters to qualify for the final. He finished 6th in the final with 22.62. Twenty minutes later he ran the 400 meters final and was ranked 7th with 52.11. He set a new national record in the 400 meters semi final on day 2, with 50.67 seconds improving his mark by 0.1s.
