Tomorrow, May 9, the Lebanese age group championship will begin; young athletes will be fighting for victories and records in all loyalty and respect. When we look back at the current Lebanese Senior Leaders, we see the young talented athlete he/she was, and how he/she managed to achieve the absolute victory. From 9 to 12 May, we will be watching youth athletes, some will achieve what their former athletes have done.
Some athletes who proved last year that their are hard to beat:
Jacques Ayyoub (Batroun) in Sprint, Elias Makhoul (Phoenicia) in Middle Distance, Sarah-Joe Kortbawi (Champville) in Middle Distance and her attempt to break both Bantam Records of 1000 and 2000 meters, Nour Mouannes (Champville) in sprint who will try to break the 60m record held by myself, Ghiya Mtairek (Phoenicia) in Middle Distance, Nadim Bitar (Champville) in Shot Put, Dolly Doumani (Champville) in Shot Put, Philippe Paoli (Champville) in sprint, Anthony Mickael (CSJ) in Sprint and his attempt to break the 150m Midget Record, Christelle Rahme (Champville) in Sprint and who will also attempt to break the 80 and 150 meters records, Makram Chaine (Antonins) in Middle Distance who broke two records in 1000 and 2000 meters in December of last year, Joelle Feghali (CSJ) in Middle distance, Alain Saad (Maristes Jbeil) in Throwing, Pierre Sarkis (CSJ) in Sprint, Daniel Bassous and Raphael Samaha (CSJ) on 400m, Charbel Saad (Maristes Jbeil) in Throwing, Maha Al-Mouallem (Ansar) and Laura Saliba (Antonins) on 100 and 200 meters, Lory Tashjian (Champville) in 400m, Mohammad Hannouf (Inter-Lebanon) in Middle Distance, Sara Awalli (Phoenicia) in Middle Distance, Maria-Pia Rahme (CSJ) and Karine Nagy (Ansar) in Javelin Throw, Melanie Frayha (CSJ) and Aya Lakkis(Ansar) in High Jump. One who could win both disciplines Long Jump and Triple Jump in Midget Category is Joy Abousleiman (CSJ), but who unfortunately was injured yesterday at the Jamhour College Championship, she will be missing this championship, but certainly not this season! We will be watching her in the Individual and Open Club Championships.
I once mentioned in an article, 'remember this name "Sarah-Joe Kortbawi" from Champville, because she is a fantastic talented athlete', someone told me that that was the first time that I had mentioned an athlete from my Club precisely, but today it will be the second time, because I have to tell you "remember this name: Christelle Rahme", I personally call her "La Gazelle". She will astonish everyone in this Championship and in this season.
Good Luck to All Athletes
