A new National record for Hussein Awada in the BLOM Beyrouth Marathon!
On 7 November 2010, more than 30,000 runners were attending the BLOM Beyrouth Marathon 2010. Some youngsters were running 1km with their mom's, others the 3km that was divided in 4 categories (9-11/12-13/14-15/16-17); others were running 10km for fun, while the rest were doing their first, or not, 42.195km running, on Wheelchairs, Hand Cycle, Push-rim or the Marathon Relay!
In the Marathon 42.195km, the strong Ethiopians were near the Kenyans, while behind them was Hussein Awada from Lebanon, who were running for the Army Team and for his country. He was placed 7th with in his pocket a new Lebanese Record for Marathon 02:20:31, he improved his previous record by 3seconds and finished the 42.195km as the first Lebanese runner, Ali Awad (Army) took 2nd place and 3rd place was for Ahmad Darkouchi (Inter-Lebanon).
In women's marathon, Ethiopians also took the lead, then Sonia Hanna from Lebanon running for the Inter-Lebanon Club win as a first Lebanese behind her, Elga Trad (Veterans) and Maria Aam, also running for Inter-Lebanon Club. We should notice the absence of Maria-Pia Nehme, the National record holder in the Marathon.
In the 3km running, CSJ (Club Sportif de Jamhour) dominated the podium from 11 years to 17! With on their side, Phoenicia Club or Cadmous (Tyre), Club Mariste Champville and Club Antonins.
